As part of the consultation on the Future Development Strategy and Tauranga Urban Strategy, we’re holding a series of community conversations in different parts of the western Bay of Plenty and you’re welcome to drop in to find out more and to tell us what you think. You can make a more formal submission but, if you’d rather just tell us face to face, we’ll have someone there to record your comments and they will be considered with the submissions.

What we have heard so far
From February through to April, we met with Tangata Whenua and a range of key stake holders. We also conducted an online survey to seek initial thoughts from the community. Our online survey closed at the end of March, after receiving over 750 responses. We used the feedback received to revise the draft Urban Strategy.
Some of the key topics people raised included:
- communication and engagement
- strategy development and integration
- community wellbeing and health
- alignment between land use and transport
- investing in centres
- housing and intensification
- planning and development
