Inorganic rubbish collections were held in 1997, 1999, and 2002. With volumes increasing each time, and therefore increasing cost.
If people have items that are too good to waste, then Council encourages them to donate these items or sell them online. If donating items to a charity shop, it is important to check with the charity shop before leaving the items, as they may be unable to sell selected items due to too much in stock and therefore would have to pay for these items to be disposed of to landfill.
As a last resort, all other iInorganic rubbish that is not reusable/resellable, should be taken to the transfer stations at Te Maunga and Maleme Street.
