Long Term Plan 2018-2028

Every three years, Council develops a Long Term Plan (LTP) in consultation with our community. This sets our vision, direction, budgets and work plans for the following 10 years.

We propose to reduce the uniform annual general charge and introduce a differential general rate for commercial properties; and introduce two new targeted rates

We propose to sell our elder housing portfolio to one of more approved community housing providers

Should we provide rates-funded kerbside waste and recycling collections?

We propose to introduce a Council-led rubbish, mixed recycling and organic waste collection service for all households by 2020/21

How much: $250 per household p/a

How should we invest in tsunami alerting methods?

Our communities have told us they would feel safer and better prepared for an emergency if there was a tsunami alerting system in place


When: 2018/19

Council investment: $3.5m

Where should we focus our investments in Tauranga's transport network?

We propose to provide people with better transport choices


When: 2018-2028

Council investment: $194m

Should we provide additional funding to Tourism Bay of Plenty?

We propose to invest more in Tourism Bay of Plenty, in order to help our city and the tourism sector manage tourism growth


When: From 2018/19

How much: $621k p/a increasing

What should we do about glass recycling?

We propose to introduce an interim, glass-only collection service, to reduce the amount of residential glass going to landfill
