Managing Tauranga’s growth into the future
The public consultation on Tauranga City Council’s Proposed Long Term Plan 2015-2025 ran for a month between Friday 20 March and Monday 20 April 2015.
Council received 654 submissions including 530 submissions from individuals and 124 submissions on behalf of organisations, Thanks to all who gave feedback on Council’s proposals!
Long Term Plan submissions
The Consultation Document pictured to the right was the basis for this consultation. It outlined Council’s proposal to manage our growing city over the following 10 years, investing in Tauranga’s future while maintaining our infrastructure and managing rates and debt levels.

What happened after the consultation?
- Processing of submissions: we compiled all submissions and prepared reports on each topic for Elected Members to review.
- Hearings: these took place from May 5 to 8 2015. Many submitters – a total of 140 people or groups – came to speak to Council in support of their written submissions.

- Deliberations: then came the deliberations, on 2, 3 and 5 June 2015. During these meetings, Elected Members reviewed the feedback received on each proposal, and agreed on any changes to be made to the proposed Long Term Plan. We reported on all decisions on our website and our social media channels throughout the deliberations.
LTP deliberations - the resolutions
- Audit and adoption: the final Long Term Plan went to the Auditor General for review, and was adopted by Council on Monday, 29 June.
A summary of key decisions was sent to submitters after the adoption of the Long term Plan. Council did not provide individual responses to submissions.
