Waste Statistics

102,878 tonnes of rubbish, recycling and garden waste was collected at the kerbside or taken to the
transfer stations in Tauranga City between July 2014 – June 2015.¹

The licenced waste contractors in Tauranga City collected 37,616 tonnes of rubbish, recycling and garden waste from the kerbside during 2014-2015. This is collected from households who utilise Council’s pink stickered rubbish bags and those who have individual contracts with service providers for rubbish, recycling and garden waste collection.

Council’s contractor collected 680 tonnes of waste from the litter bins, loose litter collection and illegal dumping during the 2014-2015 financial year.
