Kerbside collections in Tauranga are not included in your rates, so you will need to pay for a private contractor to collect your recycling. You can drop off recycling at the transfer stations at no cost, depending on the material.
It’s best to limit the amount of waste we produce in the first place. If we can’t avoid creating waste, we should at least find ways to reuse or recycle as much as possible to make better use of existing materials and reduce waste to landfill.
As of 1 March 2018, Tauranga’s private collection companies ceased accepting glass for recycling at the kerbside. Residents are encouraged to take their glass to the Te Maunga or Maleme Street transfer stations for recycling instead.
Glass can also be recycled at Waste Management’s glass recycling stations.
